What a ductless mini-split actually is.
One outdoor unit connected by a slim refrigerant line to one or more wall-mounted indoor heads. Each head heats and cools its own zone with its own remote, so the bedroom and the living room stop fighting over one thermostat. Modern cold-climate units keep full heating capacity well below freezing, which makes them the standard replacement for baseboards, oil furnaces and old gas furnaces in Victoria homes without ducts.
The head-count secret
BC's income-qualified rebates step up with system size. On a Level 1 gas or oil conversion, a single-head system earns up to $5,500 (gas) or $7,000 (oil). Add a second head and the rebate rises to $11,000. A third head, or a ducted system, reaches $13,000. A second head often costs less than the rebate it unlocks, which is why we design every ductless quote with the rebate table open rather than counting rooms and stopping there.
