Heat pumps in Saanich — the rancher retrofit specialists.

The island's biggest municipality is full of 1960s–70s ranchers with ductwork already in place — the easiest central heat pump retrofits on the south island.

Local knowledge, island standards.

Saanich's classic housing stock — Gordon Head boxes, Royal Oak ranchers, Cordova Bay split-levels — mostly grew up with ducted oil or gas furnaces. That existing ductwork is an asset: a central cold-climate heat pump drops into the air-handler position and delivers whole-home heating and cooling with no wall units at all. Income-qualified conversions run up to $16,000, oil conversions $10,000–$16,000 with tank removal handled and documented by us.

Saanich also pays a $500 municipal top-up on electrical service upgrades — useful, because many of these homes still run 100A panels that need a bump for a heat pump (and the EV in the driveway). Our in-house electricians do the upgrade in the same project, rebated up to $5,000 on qualifying conversions before the top-up.

Basement suites, big lots, mature trees shading placement options — Saanich homes reward an installer who walks the whole property before quoting. That's the only way we quote.

FAQ

Saanich questions, answered.

Our 1970s Saanich home has old ducts — can you reuse them?

Usually yes — that's the beauty of Saanich's housing stock. We inspect and balance the existing ductwork and fit a central heat pump to it; if ducts are marginal, we'll say so and show the ductless comparison.

Is there a Saanich rebate?

The District currently offers a $500 top-up on electrical service upgrades tied to heat pump conversions, stacked on provincial rebates. We apply for it with your application.

We have a basement suite — does that change anything?

It can affect rebate eligibility and system zoning. Metering and account details matter; we screen it honestly at the assessment.

"Absolutely great experience from the initial quote until happily handing over the cheque. Had a 3-ton, 4-head ductless system put in — a very clean finish, better laid out than I expected. The owner was involved in every step."
