Local knowledge, island standards.
Sidney is one of the few municipalities on the south island still paying local top-ups on top of provincial rebates: currently $350 for a fossil-to-heat-pump conversion, $500 for an electrical service upgrade, and $350 for a heat pump water heater — applied automatically with your application while funding lasts. Stack that on income-qualified rebates of up to $16,000 and Sidney conversions price out beautifully.
The Peninsula's single-level bungalows are ideal heat pump candidates — open plans that one or two heads handle gracefully, and the same unit that heats in January cools through the increasingly warm Peninsula summers. For Sidney's many townhomes and condos, our strata approval package (sound data, drawings, insurance) does the council legwork.
Worth knowing for retirees: income tiers are based on household income, and the new Level 3 reaches much further up than most people assume — it's always worth the 60-second check before assuming you don't qualify.
